Books

Here is a list of books I recommend by category. I will be doing reviews of these on my blog also, at some point. Note that these are all affiliate links (which means if you use these links to purchase, I get a tiny commission. If you don’t want to do that you can always search for the books yourself on your choice of site):

Clutter & Hoarding
  • Buried in Treasures – this book is designed for people who have difficulty discarding belongings. It is a self-help program and informative book that covers a lot about attachment and collecting.
  • Stuff: Compulsive Hoarding and the Meaning of Things. An excellent informative resource on hoarding disorder.
  • Digging Out. Written for the loved ones of those who hoard, it’s a wonderful book that focuses on maintaining relationships and keeping loved ones safe.

Simple living & Spiritualism
Psychology & Behaviour
  • Good Habits, Bad Habits: The Science of Making Positive Changes That Stick by Wendy Wood. This is a great read – lots of science to help you understand habits so that you have a better chance of success when building or trying to break habits in your own life.
  •  The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg.  My first book about habits and it blew me away. Has advice for those in business as well as individuals.
  • You Are Not So Smart by David McRaney. I LOVE this book. Learning about how our brain tricks us into thinking we know stuff, or understand ourselves, when we actually don’t was fantastic fun!
  • Atomic Habits by James Clear. Similar science in this one, but I think it might be easier to apply to your own life than the other habit books. I think this one is better as an instructional book, and the others are more about the ‘why’.
