I had a client say to me recently “I wish I was like you”.

When she explained further, it was apparent she was talking about some of the differences between us with regards to the relationship we have with our belongings. She said that she wished she could part with stuff like me, and not buy as much stuff as I do, and so on. She wanted to have “your life” and be “just like you”.

Let me just say this very clearly – you do not need to be someone else to get control over your stuff. You can still be you!

You can love crafting and still have control over your stuff

You can love shopping and still have control over your stuff

You can be sentimentally attached and still have control over your stuff.

You can love expressing your personality with clothes, accessories and makeup and still have control over your stuff.

You can love information gathering and still have control over your stuff.

One of the things I work with clients on is understanding what their needs are, and then what their storage capabilities are, and then finding a balance within that. It’s entirely possible.

So my client and I had that chat. We talked about how she doesn’t need to be just like me in order to have control. We explored the new habits she was creating that will help her take control. We talked about the boundaries she was putting in place in our consultations. We reflected on all the ways she was changing her habits and setting boundaries but still staying true to herself.

By using boundaries and creating helpful habits, there is ZERO reason why you can’t have, be and do the things you love AND be uncluttered!

You can be just like you.
